Passing the Storm

The above image was taken taken from the flight deck of an Airbus A380 "Superjumbo"

enroute from Hong Kong to Sydney, Australia.

The classic "anvil headed" thunderstorm was no doubt making its presence felt over the city of Zamboanga, in the Philippines,

just south of the airliner's position at the time.

To the right and just out of frame was a rising gibbous moon.

The forward motion of the aircraft is apparent from the motion blur of the lower cloud-deck

in this 10 second exposure, which also reveals the Southern Milky way, Southern Cross plus Alpha and Beta Centaurus.
