Paint Ball Moon
The Earth's Moon has colour....which has been highly exaggerated in the view above.
The colours on the Moon are mainly due to variations in iron and titanium content.
The mare regions have lower reflectance because they contain relatively high amounts of iron oxide and look reddish.
Some mare basalts contain unusually high amounts of titanium oxide in addition to iron oxide,
lowering the surface albedo. Titanium oxide shifts the color of the mare from red to blue.
