Tropical thunderstorms are a common sight near the equator.

This particularly active storm was photographed from the flight deck of an Airbus A380

(enroute from Hong Kong to Sydney).

The aircraft was passing above the city of Zamboanga which is

located on the south-western peninsular of Mindanao in the southerm Philippines.

A gibbous moon rising just out of frame to the left, illuminates the strato-cumulus clouds below.
